Meet John

About

John Leimer has run his own building business in Marin for more than a decade, and worked in the trades for years before that. He has run jobs of every size, so he knows how a remodel goes right and where it goes wrong.

He is a local specialist, based in San Rafael and serving all of Marin. Recent projects include homes in San Rafael, Terra Linda, San Anselmo, Mill Valley, Fairfax, Tiburon, Corte Madera and Kentfield. He knows the county's permit offices and building inspectors, and speaks their language. Those good relationships help keep your job moving.

How we work

Four values, and what each one means on your job.

Honesty and integrity

We do what we say and say what we do. If something changes on the job, you hear it from us first, in plain words.

Transparency

You see the scope, the price and the payment steps in writing before any work starts. No surprises on the final bill.

A designer's eye

Good remodeling is in the details: lines that meet, finishes that match, a layout that works for how you live.

Good communication

A check-in every working day and site visits you can count on. Current clients usually hear back within an hour; new inquiries within 24 hours.

How a job runs

From your first call to the final walk-through, and after.

  1. First call

You tell us what you have in mind. We listen, ask a few questions and tell you honestly whether we are a good fit.

  2. Site visit

John walks the space with you, measures and talks through options, budget and timing.

  3. Written scope and price

You receive a clear scope, a priced breakdown and a payment schedule (see the examples below).

  4. Permits and planning

We handle permits and inspections, order materials and set the schedule before we start.

  5. Building

A daily check-in, regular site visits and photos along the way, so you always know where things stand.

  6. Final walk-through

We walk the finished job with you, list anything to fix and make it right before the last payment.

  7. Ongoing care

We warranty all labor for one year, and stand behind California's 10-year latent defect law. After the job, we stay your contractor: if anything comes up with the house later, call us.

Three papers before we start

Before any work starts, you get three papers in writing: what is included, what it costs and when you pay.
